Strengthening Global Impact: UPNVJT Highlights Women’s Leadership in Science at OWSD 2025

UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur continues to solidify its global academic footprint through active engagement in prestigious international forums. One of the most notable recent involvements was its participation in the Annual Meeting of the OWSD Indonesia National Chapter 2025, held at Hasanuddin University in Makassar on December 8, 2025. The event carried the theme Inclusive Collaborative Research (OWSD-ICR) Symposium, emphasizing the importance of widening scientific collaboration networks and empowering women in science across diverse regions of Indonesia.

The Annual Meeting, organized by the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), successfully gathered women scientists from numerous institutions nationwide, including those working in rural and remote areas. The forum served as a vibrant platform where ideas, experiences, and research aspirations converged, enabling participants to build stronger professional networks while deepening discussions around inclusive research ecosystems. Through this initiative, OWSD continues to promote equitable access to scientific advancement, encourage multidisciplinary partnerships, and create opportunities for women to engage in impactful research aligned with sustainable development goals.

Representing UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Prof. Euis Nurul Hidayah, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the university’s best practices in managing academic, research, and community service programs. Her session centered on the importance of fostering diversity in scientific environments and emphasized the strategic role that women play in advancing higher education institutions. She elaborated on how women scientists not only contribute to groundbreaking research but also serve as catalysts for improving institutional performance, shaping policy, and enhancing the university’s competitiveness at both national and international levels.

Prof. Euis also underscored UPNVJT’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where female academics can thrive. This includes strengthening policies that support inclusive leadership, expanding opportunities for interdisciplinary research, and cultivating a campus culture that values diversity and gender equity. By integrating these principles into the university’s academic ecosystem, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur aims to elevate the quality of its scientific contributions and broaden its impact within the global scholarly community.
